WILLIAM SEVERIN Obituary


William Severin  
Passed away in Charlottesville, VA on January 19, 2019. He was born in Cleveland, OH to Mitchell and Frances Severin on July 24, 1921. He was a 1939 graduate of John Marshall High School in Cleveland and received a BS in mathematics from Yale University in 1943. After serving in the US Army during World War II, William utilized his GI bill to spend several months studying French in Grenoble, France and traveling in Europe. He returned to the States, obtained an MBA from the University of Chicago and worked for the US Steel Corporation for several years. He next served as an economist for the US government for 35 years and also studied philosophy at Georgetown University. William contributed to many charities and enjoyed visiting France, Italy and Germany with his wife, Adele, during their retirement years. He was predeceased by his sister, Marie, and is survived by his half-brother Allan, and his wife, his daughter, Renée, and his niece, Sandra Tomlin and nephew, Barron Crist.Those who wish to celebrate William's life are invited to make a special contribution to the charity of their choice.Condolences may be sent to the family at www.hillandwood.com
