VERNONA BREVARD Obituary
VERNONA M. BREVARD (Age 62)
Vernona Maria Brevard, of Washington, DC, peacefully passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2019. She leaves to cherish precious memories her devoted husband of 30 years, James M. Brevard; three loving daughters, Shanee Johnson (Tony), Phalece Brevard, and Monqiue Brevard; three adorable grandchildren, Isaiah, Xavier and Paighton; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her two siblings, Salbrina and John. A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at New Redeemer Baptist Church, 5714 Georgia Ave. NW, Washington, DC 20011. Visitation: 9 a.m., Service: 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Ft. Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood, MD. www.mcguire-services.com

My condolences to all the family. Vernona was a very sweet person with a lovely smile. I never worked personally with her, but I met her when working in the travel office at GAO. She was very sweet and pleasant. Rest in peace.

I knew Vernona for just over two and a half years having first met her at the NIH. From the get go I knew she was a very special and a very unique individual.
Though our time was short, I am blessed and grateful to have known you, Vernona. Your warmth, generosity, patience, spirituality have made a deep impression and will always stay with me. You were longsuffering and though you were often in physical pain, you rarely let on just how much you were suffering. I often marveled to myself how you made it through the day each day.
I will miss our chats.we chatted about just everything under the sun didn't we? I will also miss your youthful spirit, lightheartedness, infectious laugh, and killer sense of style.
You really were one of a kind, Vernona. I found your devotion to family and church very admirable and you have really set a great example for those of us that follow.
My condolences to her immediate and extended family and friends. May your memories of this remarkable lady and beacon of light sustain you as you go through this difficult time.
And may you finally rest in peace, dear Vernona. You will be sorely, sorely missed.

Friends and Family, you have my deepest condolences during this time. We both worked at GAO for years. I ran into Vernona in March at the GA Avenue Walmart, where we briefly chatted. We were sooo happy to see each other again after so many years. I was happy that we became "friends" on social media. I got my last Messenger message from her 5/24/19. May 31, I sent her my cell # and asked for hers... I just didn't know. Dear Vernona, until we meet again. Friends and family, may God Almighty rest, rule, and abide in your hearts forever and grant you peace. I miss her already.

Condolences to the family and friends. Vernona was a beautiful person. I enjoyed running into her in the hallways of GAO and after retirement we saw each other in Walmart. She was always positive and just really good people. And, so so proud of her children. She will be missed.
