WALTER GORSKI Obituary

GORSKI Walter Joseph Gorski, III passed away peacefully at his home on March 10, 2021 in Fairfax, Virginia. Walt will be remembered for his love of family, including his son Walter Joseph, IV, his father Walter Gorski, his mother Joan Gorski, his wife Holly Pitt Young, and the mother of his son, Denise Gorski.

Walt was well known for his kindheartedness, his affection for everyone he met, and his generosity. He was born in New Britain, CT on January 1, 1968. From the day he was born, Walt brought joy to his parents as their only child. At the tender age of six, Walt learned to play golf. He was a phenomenon at the sport, often playing with older golfers, who were amazed by his swing and talent on the course. Growing up, Walt loved Cape Cod, where he and his family would spend many summers.

He attended Kingswood-Oxford School, West Hartford, CT where he excelled as a student, an athlete and was very popular. After high school, he attended the University of Richmond, where he quickly joined a fraternity and was an outstanding student who continued to excel at golf. He then went to Oxford, England where he studied and toured Europe.

Upon graduation, he was appointed to the staff of the powerful Ways and Means Committee of the United States House of Representatives, working for the legendary Chairman Dan Rostenkowski. After his service on Capitol Hill, he passionately advocated for patients, doctors and hospitals in the health care industry. One of Walt's greatest achievements was testifying before Congress on healthcare policy.

Walt married his first wife, Denise, in 2003, and they soon were blessed with Walter IV, who was the love of their lives. The Gorski's were a very close family. Walt always said he was blessed with the intellect of his father and the heart of his mother and he felt that his son embodied those characteristics. Walt was always the first to help anybody in his neighborhood by mowing lawns and shoveling sidewalks. He did this with a beautiful smile because "it was the right thing to do." In 2020, Walt married Holly Pitt Young, his loving wife.

Finally, Walt was a man of faith and he loved God. His middle name is Joseph, the Patron Saint of Family, which is fitting because what he loved most was his family, especially his son. He will be dearly missed by all those who survive him, his son Walter, his parents, Walter and Joan Gorski, his wife Holly and former wife Denise Gorski.

A future service will be held in Connecticut at the Rose Hill Memorial Home in Rocky Hill, CT. Details will be forthcoming.

I don't know how I missed this sad news. Walt was a friend and a close colleague at American Association for Homecare. He was smart, hard-working, good-natured, immensely proud of his son, and I will miss him.

Walt was my next door neighbor for five great years, from 2010 to 2015. He was a great Son, Father, husband, friend & neighbor. A true character with a great intellect, and a greater heart. He was always interested in how things could be better, in his relationships and his work. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. My condolences to his family. Forever in our hearts, Walt.

Like Greg in the comments below, I also work for a publication that covered one of the industries Walt represented (home medical equipment), and he was always happy to provide a quote or background information for my stories. But beyond the working relationship, he was always such a nice, friendly guy. I'm extremely sorry to learn he was taken too soon and offer my sincere condolences.

I am very sorry to hear of Walt’s passing. We spoke often, the last time being in late February. Walt was a very intelligent man and a good friend.

Very sorry to hear about Walt's passing. Walt was one of those instantly likable people who could talk politics with a diplomatic flair. As a journalist in the HME world, I relied on him to provide analysis and quotes, and he was always on point. I enjoyed reading about his life, and sorry I never got a chance to have him destroy me during a round of golf. My sincere condolences to his family.

Dear Gorski Family,

My sincere condolences on Walt's passing. I worked with Walt in the Home Medical Equipment industry for many years. He was not only a strong and passionate advocate, but was also a great guy and a pleasure to work with. He left us much too soon, but know he will be remembered fondly by those who had the opportunity of working with him. You will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Sending heartfelt sympathies to the Gorski family. Walt recommended me for a consulting position several years ago and through that work, we became professional colleagues and personal friends. Walt touched many lives, mine included, and I hope that his family and friends know how much he was loved. I will keep the Gorski family in my prayers and hope that you all will find peace in the coming months.
