Autrey Maroun Obituary

MAROUN, AUTREY J., MG, USA, (Ret.) (Age 91)

Died August 8, 2005 in Pebble Beach, CA. A West Point graduate, he was born April 19, 1914 in Shreveport, LA. He retired after 37 years of distinguished service to his nation as an infantry officer. Graduated from USMA in 1935. As a Battalion Commander in WWII, he received the Distinguished Service Cross and Silver Star for actions around Thionville, France. Gen. Maroun later served as Commanding General, 5th Infantry Division (Mechanized) at Ft. Carson, CO. He was the Commanding Officer, Military Planning Office, SEATO in Thailand and Special Assistant to the Comptroller of the Army, Washington, DC. Gen. Maroun is survived by his wife, Francis G. Maroun. Inurnment with Military Honors, Friday, October 14 at 9 a.m. at Arlington National Cemetery, Ft. Myer, Virginia.
