Geraldine Carroll Obituary
GERALDINE HAYWOOD CARROLL
Peacefully departed this life on Friday, October 14, 2011. She was a native Washingtonian and a proud lifelong resident of the Deanwood neighborhood in N.E. Gerry, as she was fondly known to family and friends, was the daughter of the late Hiram H. and Geraldine M. Haywood. She was the wife of the late Tuskegee Airman, Lt. Alfred Q. Carroll, Jr. Gerry is survived by her loving son, Alfred Q. Carroll, III; her brother, Deacon Hiram H. Haywood, Jr. (Charlean); nephew, Hiram H. (Mike) Haywood, III; nieces, Dr. Yolanda Boatwright and Yvonne Haywood; cousins, Veronica Wells and Leoncia Porter; a devoted goddaughter, Diane Crockett (Ronnie); a host of great nieces and nephews; and many loving friends. On Thursday, October 20, 2011, visitation will be held from 10 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at The Church of the Incarnation, 880 Eastern Avenue, N.E., Washington, DC. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Services by HENRY S. WASHINGTON & SONS.

I will never forget your mother who was always helpful and provided the best advice while working at the Department of State. She was a wonderful and beautiful person that helped and assisted everyone that came to her for guidance.May she rest in peace.

Al - May God be with you and your family. Gerri was a ray of sunshine, and now she smiles on you from on high. She is at peace in Heaven.
I'll always have fond memories of her at the Department of State, and how she was always ready to help those of us who asked her.

Remembering the many good and fun memories spending time in your mom's home during our (Norwood and My) child and teen years living and playing in Deanwood... Also, remembering the Christian example your mom showed us through her deep love and dedication to the Catholic Faith e.g. seeing your mom at Mass at Incarnation Church and especially seeing her at the Stations of The Cross during the Lent... Your mom was and will continue to be an inspiration to many who knew and love her...
