There are people who never just live, but burn. The light of this burning is spreading around and help other people move ahead through the darkness and everyday difficulties.
Amb. Jim Pardew was this type of person. Today is exactly one year since he left us, but the light he spread around is still strong and visible. Like a shining star on the dark sky, that no longer exists in physical reality, but the beams emitted by it are so real and beautiful....
I thank God that I had a chance to work with Amb. Jim Pardew during his assignment with U.S. Embassy, Sofia.
Bulgarian people will keep memories of him forever!

I was shocked and saddened to learn of the recent death of Col Pardew. I had the pleasure of serving as his deputy in two different assignments in Turkey and Germany and was always impressed by his intelligence, poise and sense of humor. May God keep him always and bless him and his family. He was a great man!

The passing of a true Warrior-Diplomat.
In 1998-99, Jim and I worked closely together in support of Special Envoy Dick Holbrooke's effort to bring a peaceful end to the growing tension in Kosovo which ultimately led to the Nato Air Campaign against Serbia. Jim played a very important role in this endeavor and I will always remember his disciplined approach to the many problems we all faced as well as his sense of humor which was much appreciated in those difficult times. Jim later replaced me as Ambassador to Bulgaria where these same qualities once again served the national interests of the United States.

Bulgaria lost one big Friend.
For me Amb. James Pardew has been always one example as a diplomat and as a person. With his high level of morale, discipline and attention to detail. Deeply in my heart there will be always one small place reserved for him and for Kathy . For the time when we were working together in U.S.Embassy-Bulgaria not only like a chief and subordinate but also like a close fiends.
Now a big change is going on in Bulgaria. Bulgarian people can see the light in the tunnel. And I know that Amb. Pardew was one of those who brought this light.
