JAMES STEPHEN HEBB III

On June 3, 2023, James (Jim) Stephen Hebb, died peacefully in his home in Alexandria, Virginia. He was 82 years old.

Jim was born in Baltimore, the son of Captain James S. Hebb, Jr., and Carolyn Virginia Musch Hebb. He grew up in Baltimore and attended Gilman School prior to attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He became a resident of Alexandria, Virginia in 1986. He is survived by his wife Ann Durgin Reese, his son James Stephen Hebb, IV of Sparks, Maryland, daughter Beauchamp Fontaine Hansen of Glendale, California and three grandchildren, Lucy, Jack, and Jameson. His youngest son, David Drayton Tucker Hebb, predeceased Jim in 1983.

Jim had a long career in international finance and insurance with a specialty in risk management. He retired as a Senior Vice President from Marsh & McLennan.

One of Jim's lifelong interests was the sport of lacrosse, which he played in high school and college. In the 1980s Jim founded Ruxton/Riderwood Boy's Lacrosse and coached lacrosse for boys aged 6 to 16 for a dozen years.

Jim was a big man with a huge heart. He was generous and loving. Jim's generosity extended beyond his life in into his death. He donated his body to Georgetown Medicine for the purposes of medical research.
