JUANITA ORR Obituary
JUANITA ELOIS ORR
Passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2013, at the age of 79. Juanita lived for many years in San Pablo, California. Daughter of Joseph and Eula T. Orr, she was born and raised in West Palm Beach, Florida. She graduated from Florida A&M University (FAMU) with a BS in elementary education and from New York University with an MA in remedial reading. She retired as Chairman of Communication and Arts Division at Contra Costa Community College in San Pablo, California. Juanita was a life member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., with over 60 years of service and joined the Iota Gamma Omega chapter, Prince George's County, Maryland in 2003. She held life memberships in the NAACP and the FAMU National Alumni Association. She enjoyed giving back, through the years, politically, financially and as a volunteer at many levels. Juanita is survived by her devoted and loving sister, Virginia P. Orr, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Orr Family Endowment Fund at Florida A&M University, Inc., Post Office Box 6562, Tallahassee, Florida 32314-6562. Online donations www.famu.edu/givetofamu with the following comment: Please direct my donation to the Orr Family Endowment Fund. The memorial service will be held on Friday, February 1, 2013 at 10 a.m., at Largo Community Church, 1701 Enterprise Road, Mitchellville, MD, 20721, 301-249-2255.
