Dear Mrs. Feaster, Children
and Dedicated Sister, Shirley,

What a small world, I knew Phil in many capacities. Firstly, at Local 639, where my late father, Grafton M. Lewis, Sr. was a Teamster on the Executive Board, prior to his retirement. My brother, Grafton M. Lewis, Jr. was also a Teamster and had a lot of respect for Phil. Secondly, as President of Teamsters 639, Phil became affiliated with the D.C. Public Schools where I was employed. As an Employee Development Specialist, I conducted numerous workshops and seminars for his employees at the Union Hall. Finally, I am currently a member of the Ladies of Charity at Mt. Calvary Catholic Church of which Shirley is a member and friend (I also knew her in the D.C. Public Schools but wasn't aware that she was Phil's sister at that time). In all of these capacities, Phil was an inspiration to all, an effective business man and a person who loved and lived life to its fullest. May God keep you under His wings and give you strength, understanding and courage during this very trying time. Peace and Blessings always from the Family of the late Grafton M. Lewis, Sr.

I was shocked and saddend to see Phil in the obituary. Moreover, I regret that I did not read it until today, therfore I missed the funeral services. Let me offer my prayers and condolences to Joyce and the family. The message from Rick Dade says it all. Phil was the best president the Teamsters ever had. We began our friendship in 1975. May memories sustain you.

Deepest Sympathy,

Joyce,
Phil was a leader, mentor and friend. I had the utmost respect for him as a man of wisdom and honor. He never hesitated to do the right thing and was always generous with his time and assistance. I also know well that you were his rock, his grounding, his love. His loss will be felt by all... and all our hearts go out to you. I hope you are comforted, as I am, that our lives have been truly enriched for having had Phil a part of them. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

On behalf of my father, Jensey Cotton Jr. and my uncle Reginald Cotten Sr. our families would like to express our deep sense of regret and sorrow at the loss of Mr. Phil. Mr. Phil and my uncle shared a life long friendship built on their days in the union and long after my dad and uncle retired Mr. Phill was still around. He exemplied the truest character of a friend during the most critical time of pain for my cousins and my Uncle Reginald lives; the loss of their mother, Rosita and brother, JC, and as a family we will always be eternally grateful for his support. Please know that our entire family will hold you all in the light of prayer during this season of loss.

To Joyce, Tianna & Christopher, thank you for sharing Phil with every Teamster Local 639 Member, the Admin Staff and every cause that he had a passion for. He loved all of us. Phil recently phoned me to come back to work for the Fund office wanting to ensure that his 639 Brothers were in good care. I am humbled and so grateful to have known him. I will never forget his laughter, warm disposition, honesty or his candor. I know you will miss him. His presense was could go unnoticed. Take comfort in knowing that there is a refuge for him in Christ Jesus...

We grieve the loss of a great man, our friend and business colleague, Phil Feaster. What a wise, enthusiastic, and thoroughly committed dynamo who always wanted the best for everyone, to share his good fortune and wisdom. We were amazed by the legions of those who loved him in turn. Men like Phil, who can move people & mountains with equal ease, don't visit this earth often. Though we didn't know him well, we knew him enough to find him one of the finest people we've known. We miss you, Phil. Joyce and family, we feel your loss. We offer you our very best.

God be with your family during this time of sadness.

I was delighted to be Mr. Feaster's Respiratory Therapist during his prior visit to Washington Hospital Center.

My mother had great respect for him and always had very nice things to say about him. Mrs. Feaster was one of her favorite people.
