THORSEN REBECCA BLACK THORSEN Rebecca Black Thorsen, our loving daughter, sister, and sister-in-law, went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, October 29, 2016. She was 29 years old. Becca was exceptional from the very beginning. As a young girl, Becca was nothing short of a princess and the absolute object of her family's affection. Even then, her classic style and immense beauty was completely captivating. She was incredibly intelligent, intellectually curious, and had extraordinarily varied interests. These ranged from art to architecture, from scuba diving to literature, anthropology to viticulture, and business to foreign affairs. She was a conversationalist, a bon vivant, a comedian and loved to travel. She was particularly fond of the Southwestern United States and recently toured France, Monaco, and London with her dear friends and sister. She counted Tulum, Mexico and Paris, France as her favorite destinations. Professionally, Becca served as the CFO of Thorsen Construction Co., Inc., where she was instrumental in building the company into an award-winning general contracting firm. She also served as the CFO of BCS, where she successfully negotiated the sale of The Little Burro to over 500 Walmart stores. Becca was the Founder and Chief Creative Mind at PLUS PLUS, a fashion con- sulting and online rental company, where she advised clients on classic and authentic styles that communicated their distinct personalities. She also served as Co-Chair of the Mid-Atlantic Make-a-Wish Foundation and previously served as the Chairwoman of Give Back Alexandria. Becca's faith in Jesus Christ was her most valuable possession. She greatly valued her Monday night women's Bible study and attended McLean Bible Church for the better part of a decade. Her faith gave her an incredible spirit of humility, thankfulness, and a heavenly perspective that translated into compassion and love for others. She admired Esther and her favorite Bible verse was Isaiah 43:18-19 (NLT): "But forget all that- it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will create a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland." Becca graduated from The Highland School in Warrenton, Virginia and followed her siblings in attending Randolph-Macon College, graduating in 2009 with a B.A. in Sociology. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta, where she developed treasured lifelong friendships. In her final month, she earned a Certificate in The Women's Leadership Program from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia. She is survived by her parents Robert and Sudie Thorsen of Warrenton, VA, siblings Robert L. Thorsen of Washington, D.C., John and Kelly Thorsen of Arlington, VA, James and Krisztina Thorsen of Aldie, VA, and Mollie R. Thorsen of Alexandria, VA. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 12, 11 a.m., in The Smith Center at McLean Bible Church, in McLean, VA.
