GRACE ANITA GARDNER "Nana"
Age 97, of Washington, DC, on Saturday, December 3, 2016. Beloved wife for 77 years of Leonard Gardner and mother of Barbara A. Campbell. Survived by grandsons, Daniel, Anthony (Tamara), Brian, Kevin and Christopher; great-grandson, Daniel; great grand-daughters, Khepri and Ava; nephew, Ronnie Burrell (Annette); niece, Anne English; nephews, John White, Paul White; niece, Carol White-Rolling; cousin, Yvonne Edwards; sister-in-law, Marion White; and a host of great nieces and nephews. Her husband Leonard and grandson Michael Campbell both predeceased her. Visitation 10 a.m., service 11 a.m., Saturday, December 10 at St. George's Episcopal Church, 160 U Street, NW. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Children's National Health System.

As posted on FaceBook..."Grace." If we're lucky, in our lifetime we meet someone who epitomizes GRACE...that Nana's name was actually Grace spoke volumes. She knew me before I was born and I really got to know her when she took me in one summer when I had nowhere else to go. She, and the love of her life, her husband of 77 years Bobby, lived lives most of us only know in fiction. Family first, every minute of her 97 years. Everything else unfolds the way it will. I learned so much from this Grace, who called me "Sugar Lump" and ended each call across the miles with, "I'll love you for ever and ever." This afternoon in her hospice room, I got to hold, kiss, thank and tell her, "I'll love you forever and ever." Though in a coma, somehow I just know she heard me and for that I'll be forever grateful. My love and condolences to the entire Campbell clan...
