SERGIO DOCAL Obituary


Sergio Raul Docal  
Passed quietly into eternal rest on October 18, 2017 at the Washington, DC, was born May 29, 1918 in Havana, Cuba and immigrated to the USA in 1944, residing in Miami ,FL. He served during World War II in the U.S. Coast Guard on the "Liberty Ship" S.S. Samuel Parker. He received the "Victory Medal" for his honorable service in the U.S. Coast Guard In May 1965, the exiled King Peter II of Yugoslavia conferred on Mr. Docal the Commemorative War Cross 1941-45 of the Yugoslav Army. He worked for many years as an interpreter for the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization. A talented pianist, he also taught piano. He is survived by his wife Elena Docal. Service at a later date.

We will always remember visiting you & Sergio at your house and hearing him play so beautifully on his baby grand. He was a true gentleman of the old Cuba and our lives are so enriched for having known him. He did very many special things that helped a lot of people. You must be very proud of him. Now he is at peace with God.
