JACK MARTINELLI Obituary
JACK ANTHONY MARTINELLI
Age 81, passed away on January 22, 2019 at his home in Rockville, MD. A private memorial service will be held at the Rockville Cemetery. Jack was born on August 6, 1937 in Manhattan, NY. When Jack was a young child, his family relocated to Silver Spring, MD. He was a graduate of Montgomery Blair High School, Corcoran School of the Arts, and George Washington University. After he retired from teaching at the University of the District of Columbia in 2010, Jack continued to travel, play the drums and make art. He is predeceased by his parents Anthony and Filomena Cascia Martinelli as well as sisters Marguerite Brockway and Theresa Volkman. Jack is survived by his former wife Alice Martinelli, son Nigel, daughter Nina Clark, sister Rita Martinelli, and seven grandchildren. Jack was a member of The Phillips Collection, a museum which houses superb works of art. Jack was a special member of the Martinelli family. He was one of our family historians and his fascinating stories were always a joy to read. His Fluxus art was intellectually stimulating and were treasured gifts when they arrived in our mailbox. Mostly I will miss his deep voice and kind laughter that resonated long afterwards.
