ANN ZAHN Obituary


Ann E. C. Zahn  
Ann passed away peacefully at age 89 in her home in Bethesda on December 30, 2020. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years Theodore Zahn "Ted"; daughters Vicki Zahn of Sonoma, CA, Julie Zahn of Philadelphia; sons Andrew Zahn of Rochester, NY, Jeffrey Zahn of Silver Spring; and five grandchildren. Ann was born in Washington, DC. She graduated from Duke University and earned a MFA degree from American University where she briefly taught art classes. She also taught at the University of Maryland and George Mason University. She was co-director of the Graphics Workshop in the Glen Echo Art Center and was a founding member of Washington Area Printmakers, Washington Printmakers Gallery, and Creative Partners Gallery in Bethesda. Ann started the Printmakers' Workshop in 1977 in her Bethesda studio where she mentored many local artists and several from abroad. Her one-person shows include Washington Printmakers Gallery, the Studio Gallery, and a 30-year retrospective at Strathmore Hall Art Center in 2002. Her work has also been exhibited at many galleries including the Katzen Gallery at the American University, Corcoran Gallery of Art, Baltimore Museum of Art, and the National Museum of Women in the Arts Invitational Artists Book Shows nine times between 1987 and 2002. She was chosen to archive her work through Art Cart - A Legacy.
