CHRISTINE COX Obituary

Christine Gail Cox
Christine Gail Cox died peacefully on December 27, 2020 after a lengthy illness, surrounded by family. Christine graduated from The Sidwell Friends School in 1980 and from Skidmore College in 1984, where she double majored in graphic design and art history. She lived in Georgetown, where she created a beautiful home and devoted herself to raising her children. She was a lover of all things artistic, and throughout her life she demonstrated her incredible skills in graphic design, oil and watercolor painting, and silkscreen printing. She spent many summers on Martha's Vineyard with her family and lifelong friends, where she enjoyed her favorite hobbies: reading, making handmade gifts, and beach combing. She will be remembered for her creativity, her generosity, and her love for family. She is survived by her two children, Anna Hill and Christian Hill; her mother, Marie-Louise Cox-Swenson; her sister, Leslie Cox; her brother, Kenneth Cox and his wife Alison Vest; nephews Andrés Colón and Sebastian Cox; and a niece, Alicia Colón. She was predeceased by her father, Alan Cox. A service will be planned at a later date. Donations can be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF)."

Christine was the most Beautiful, Courageous, Charming, Generous, Graceful, Kind, Stylish! —and outlandishly FUNNY person I knew. She lit up the room, just as she lit up my life.

She would walk in like a ray of Sunshine, and announce: “Hiiiii Girlfriend, I brought you something!!!” (It could be a hand-made gift, candy, or an electronic muscle relaxer — you never knew!)

When I met Christine, I fell for her humor right away. We shared TONS of laughs over the past five years. She was my best friend and like a sister to me. We devoured lots of lobster, danced at concerts, swam laps at the pool, went chocolate shopping at Rodman’s, went for sushi, went for pizza, held dinner parties! She was an accomplished chef in her own right and would torment me with her mouth-watering recipes — while we were at work — and not supposed to snack!

I know she loved ice hockey, and picking sour cherries every Spring, and watching scary movies. I also know her deepest love was — and will forever be — for Anna and Christian. My deepest sympathy for her family and all those many other friends who loved her.

And — I hope when I get to Heaven, I’m seated right next to Christine. She’s the life of the party. Forever my Friend.

Very Respectfully,

Mary
