Peter Yozell Obituary

Yozell, Peter Sheldon of Weston, Massachusetts died peacefully at his home with family by his side on Sunday January 22, 2012 at the age of 89. Weston was his home for 54 years. He and his wife Jeanne first moved to Weston in 1958 where they raised four children. Peter was generous with his time. He served as a member of the Weston Town Democratic Committee, and contributed to town committees. He supported local causes such as building the Weston Public Library, setting aside conservation land and increased funding for the Weston public schools. He was also very active on the board of the Gifford School in Weston. He enjoyed the Weston/Wayland Football rivalry and most Saturdays could be found in Weston Center running errands and having breakfast at Ye Old Cottage with his buddies, sharing in the town news. In the early years he was an active participant in local plays, such as, Oklahoma, Porgy and Bess and many more. Tennis was his passion; he played with friends throughout Weston and competed on the town tennis team. Peter was a fantastic father who was proud of his four children and engaged in their many interests -- horses, politics, music and human rights. He was an advisor and mentor to many and his home was always open to friends of all ages. He adored his five grandchildren and took great pleasure in introducing each one to Westons Lands Sake to buy his favorite fresh sweet corn and the Dairy Joy for a creemee. He was a loving husband to Jeanne and they shared a wonderful life together in Weston filled with adventures and laughter. Together they enjoyed dinners with friends and family discussing news and politics of the day, and catching up on the local happenings, or just sharing humorous stories. Peter was graduated from Lawrence Academy and the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. His studies were interrupted by three years of service in the United States Navy as a lieutenant where he was decorated for his valor. He was founder and CEO of Yozell Associates, an employee benefits firm in Boston. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jeanne (Wolf), by his children Emily Yozell & Enrique Pucci of Costa Rica, John & Abby Yozell of Dedham, MA, James Yozell & Nivia Freitas of Brazil, and Sally Yozell & David Anderson of Washington D.C., his grandchildren Esme, Peter & Niko Yozell, Pablo & Giovanna Pucci, his nephew Stuart Lesses of Lynn. Peter will be remembered for his warm and mischievous smile, his tremendous sense of humor, his generosity and his love of life. He is at peace, but he will be missed. His burial was on January 25th at the Linwood Cemetery in Weston. In remembrance donations may be made to the Gifford School, 177 Boston Post Road, Weston, MA 02493 and the Big Sister Association of Greater Boston, 161 Massachusetts Avenue, Boston MA 02115.
