Peter Schonherr

SCHONHERR, Peter It is with great sadness that the family of Peter Schonherr announce his sudden passing at his residence on Tuesday, April 13, 2004, at the age of 80. He was born on August 27, 1923 in St. Georg An Der Bega, Banat, Yugoslavia (Serbia). He came to Canada on July 27, 1951, settling in Toronto. In the spring of 1957, he moved to Kingsville with his family where he co-owned a farm on Road 2 West with his brother Anton. He also worked at the Hodge Tobacco Factory, then later at Chrysler Canada in Windsor until his retirement. Predeceased by his first wife, Anna (1988) and his second wife, Theresia (2002). Predeceased by his parents, Anton Sr. and Barbara Schonherr and his brother, Anton Jr. (2003). Loving and cherished father to Barbara Zack and husband Doug, and Susie Schiefer and husband George. He will be very sadly missed by grandchildren Heidi, Lorie (and partner Jon Snider) and Rob Zack and Lisa and Brian (and fiancee Laura Allan) Schiefer. He proudly was an active member and past president of the Rhine Danube Club, Leamington for many years and a member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch #188 in Kingsville. He also devoted many years with the German Radio Hour through CHYR Radio in Leamington and wrote a monthly German Column with the Heimatbote Newspaper. With consideration for Mr. Schonherr's wishes, cremation and a private family funeral service has taken place on Friday, April 16, 2004.
