Dan Collins Obituary
Dan J. Collins, age 62, of Wisconsin Rapids, WI died Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at University Hospital, Madison, WI.
Funeral Services are 11:00AM Monday, March 13, 2017 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Fr. Valentine Joseph will officiate. The family will greet relatives and friends at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Church on Monday from 10:00-11:00 AM. Burial at a later date.
Dan was born March 7, 1955 in Kenosha, WI a son to James and Violet (Castona) Collins. He married Diane M. Graef on June 19, 1993 in Wisconsin Rapids, WI.
Dan was a graduate of MSTC in diesel mechanics. He was an oiler/ maintenance worker for the Kraft Division of Consolidated Papers (Verso) for 35 years retiring in 2014. Dan enjoyed fishing, hunting and bowling and was a former member of the South Wood County Bassmasters.
Dan is survived by his wife, Diane; son, Jason Collins; sister, Peggy (Walter) Clark of Stevens Point, WI and two nieces, Amy Skibba and Katie (Andrew) Wise and their families. Dan was preceded in death by his parents.

Dan was a nice buy in a difficult job at the Kraft Mill. I worked with him once for a shutdown...over 12 hours a day for a whole week. He crawled around in awful places to service the many critical parts in the woodworm areas.
He loved to fish and was an expert at many things...we also shared the memory that our fathers were in the automobile business.

I will always remember the good memories and many smiles we shared. Fishing in Ontario Canada last summer was among my most enjoyable vacations. Your gentle nature and kind heart will be missed by many. Thanks for the memories. Perhaps our paths will cross once again, and we will be able to share some time on the water catching a few more "hogs." R.I.P. friend.

I'm sorry to hear of Dan's passing. We ate lunch together at this year's Cheesco open and it was a pleasure to catch up. He spoke of his fishing passion with great joy and excitement. He will be missed by many of his AHS classmates and remembered fondly at all our events.
