Robert "Bob" A. Bandow, of Blanchester, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014 at the age of 90.
He was born on Aug. 2, 1924 in Cleveland. Bob proudly served in the United States Army during World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War.
He retired from the Army after serving 20 years in 1963. He then worked for the IRS for 16 years.
Bob was a member of the Blanchester Seniors, Blanchester F.O.E. 2222, Blanchester American Legion Post 179 and the 78th Infantry Division Association.
He was the beloved husband of the late Waltraud Schafer Bandow; the loving father of Curt (Billie) Bandow of Blanchester, Doris Tennant of Blanchester and Susan Barr of Blanchester; proud Opa of Richard Doug Naylor, Robert Todd Bandow, Katie Tennant, Aaron "Scooter" Tennant and Michael Isaac Barr; a caring great-grandfather of Brant, Bryce, Brett and Bryan Bandow, Kelsey, Samantha and Natalie Naylor, Ciara Acuff, and Chloe and MJ Barr; a devoted uncle of Neil and Dale Howk; a dear brother of the late Dorothy Howk and Raymond Bandow; and cherished son of the late Charles and Anna Zardin Bandow.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, Oct. 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Tufts Schildmeyer Funeral Home, 120 W. Main St. in Blanchester, where services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 16 at 10 a.m.
The interment, with military honors, will be conducted at the Blanchester I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made in memory of Bob Bandow to the Hospice of Hope Ohio Valley, 215 Hughes Blvd., Mount Orab, OH 45154, or to The Laurels of Blanchester, 839 E. Cherry St., Blanchester, OH 45107, or to the American Legion Post 179, 318 E. Main St., Suite 2, Blanchester, OH 45107.
