Maria Alexopoulos

Lancaster - Maria Alexopoulos, 91, passed away on April 2, 2021 at Hamilton Arms of Lancaster. Maria was born on June 20, 1929 in Platanos, Greece to Aris and Pauline (Exarehos) Karageorge and was one of their five children. She immigrated to the United States in 1956 where she was married to Peter Alexopoulos for 57 years and worked as a seamstress. She was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation in York.

Maria is survived by her daughter and her husband, Sophie and Jim Beaumariage, Franklin, Mass.; her son and his wife, Jim and Maria Alexopoulos, Lancaster; seven grandchildren, Niki and her husband, Jason Pinckney, Peter Alexopoulos and his wife, Sophia, Alexandra and her husband Jeff Arduino, Manoli Alexopoulos, Tommy Alexopoulos, Jennifer and her husband, Kris Lutz, Stephanie and her husband, Nick Picca; one great-grandson, Clark Pinckney; and six great-granddaughters, Lilyana, Avery and Brielle Picca, Rozalyn Lutz, Marielle Pinckney and Hadley Arduino. Maria also leaves behind her oldest sister, Georgia Mavros and an abundance of extended family both in the United States and in Greece, who will be among those that cherish her life and her memory.

Funeral services for the extended family will be held Friday, April 9, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, 2500 Pine Grove Rd, York, with the Rev. Father Andrew N. Tsikitas officiating. Burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery, 1502 Mount Rose Ave, York. A viewing will be held Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
