DANIEL KENNETH "KENT" HICKS SR.
HAMLET — Daniel Kenneth "Kent" Hicks, Sr., of Hamlet, passed away, Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at his residence.
He was born in Hamlet, July 20, 1940, son of Robert Lee Hicks, Sr. and Mildred Williams Hicks.
Mr. Hicks was a Member and Deacon of First Baptist Church of Hamlet, a member of Masonic Lodge AFAM #532, Shriners, former Sgt. with Hamlet Police Department, and was a Police in Special Services for CSX Railroad. "Kent" was an avid motorcycle enthusiast. He loved his Lord and he loved his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Martha Garris Hicks; brothers and sisters, Thelma H. Spivey, Thomas Atlas Hicks, Robert Lee Hicks, Jr., Beatrice H. Coleman, Martha H. Smith, Edgar Earl Hicks, Mildred H. Starcher, William Gene Hicks and Glen Austin Hicks.
Survivors include his sons, Daniel K. Hicks, Jr. "Skeeter" of Columbus, NC and Joseph Lee Hicks (Samantha) of Rockingham; brothers, Ellis "Buddy" Hicks, Sr. of Hamlet and John Edward Hicks of Columbus, NC.
Mr. Hicks will have a private Family Service.
Harrington Funeral Home & Crematory is serving the Hicks Family.

I was very sad to hear about the passing of Mr. Hicks. My father worked with him at the railroad for many years. He was a good man and will be missed. I recall the times we would go to his house for Christmas when I was very young and all the good times we had with his family. Godspeed!
