Ronald Ray Hicks Sr., 83, passed away at home surrounded by family on Monday, March 16, 2026. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

Born in 1943, Ronald lived a life marked by honor, dedication and a devotion to his Family. He was especially proud of his time serving in the United States Marine Corps, where he carried the values of courage, discipline, and loyalty that would define him throughout his life.

In 1966, he married the love of his life, Ann M. Hicks. Their enduring marriage of nearly sixty years was built on faith, commitment, and unwavering love. Together they created a family that became the center of Ronald's world.

Ronald dedicated his professional life to protecting and serving others. He began his career with the City of Chattanooga as a firefighter and later as a police officer, roles in which he demonstrated bravery, integrity, and compassion. He later moved into security with TVA, a path that eventually led to Memorial Hospital, where he faithfully served until his retirement in 2008.

A dedicated Mason, Ronald was a member and Past Master of Ridgedale Lodge 660 and a current member of Daisy Lodge 706. He was also a member of Grace Baptist Church

Ronald was a lifelong fisherman and outdoorsman, but above all else, he cherished his family - especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable pride and happiness.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Jefferson Hicks and June Hicks; siblings: Peggy (Donald) Howard, Lee Jefferson Jr (Doris) Hicks, Shelby (Nelson) Rogers. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ann Hicks; his daughters, Cynthia (Jeff) Moore and Tracy (Mike) Myers; his son, Ronald R. Hicks Jr.; his grandchildren; Misty (Lance) Webb, Matthew Hicks, and Christian Mowery; and his great-grandchildren: Cesilee Jasso, Geovanni Jasso, Willow Webb, and Keira Hicks.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm est Saturday, March 28, 2026 at Grace Baptist Church 172 Robin Dr. Chattanooga, TN 37405. If you would like to send flowers or cards to the family, the church will be open on Friday, March 27th from 3:00-6:00 pm and from 10:00 am on Saturday, March 28th.
