Pat West

Thomas Patrick "Pat" West, 92, of Chattanooga, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2026.

He began painting at just seven years old, helping contribute to the family business and learning the value of hard work early in life-something that stayed with him throughout his life.

As a young athlete, Pat showed exceptional promise on the baseball field and was even scouted by the Chattanooga Lookouts while still in the seventh grade.

Pat worked for Combustion Engineering for 25 years before retiring. He was also known for his inventive spirit and was the creator of the Perk-O-Baste, an innovative cooking device that reflected his practical mind and curiosity.

Outside of work, Pat had a deep appreciation for old cars, often enjoying time admiring, discussing, and working on classic automobiles.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Elizabeth Cunningham West; his siblings, Patsy Lou West, Pearl West Smith, Isaiah Deloy West, Reverend Joseph West, Dexter Floyd West, James Wallace West, Elizabeth Ball, and Geneva Devine.

Survivors include his children, Mary Charlotte West, Katheryn (Glenn) Herron, and Patti (Greg) Greenlee; grandchildren, Billy Herron, Eric (Denise) Herron, and Chrissy (Beau); several great-grandchildren; and his brother, Paul West.

Visitation is 3:00-8:00 pm Sunday at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace. A graveside service will be 1:00 pm Monday in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
