Oh my....I have SO many fond memories of Jim Viney from when I was a child. He did some carpentry work for my mom and dad on Echo Avenue, putting in a picture window in the living room. He taught me how to use the claw on a hammer to pull off the boards. I was his "helper" at all of 8 years old. He was a gentle soul with a peaceful smile. So many times I've thought of him over the years. Mr. Viney...you *will* be sorely missed. Say "hello" to Daddy up there, will you please? Rest in peace.

It has been many years since Jim visited Thomas LumberTown, but over the years Jim was a very good customer and much appreciated. Being in retail you meet and deal with many people. Jim was one of the finest. We have customers and we have customers who are friends. Jim was both. Please accept our sympathy for your loss.

Mr. Viney was a memorable part of my life growing up. He worked at Good Sam with my dad, Clarence Shumate and he made cabinets for my mom's church. He lived a long and beautiful life and his life touched many other lives - something you should all be proud of and keep alive through your own lives.

Listen closely to the winds and hear the gentle whisper of an angel*s wings in flight..
Look far into the sky and see the shimmering stardust left behind...
Close your eyes, clear your thoughts, and feel the love and prayers
of your family and friends.

May the Creator's love comfort you

Mark and Nancy, I just can't believe such a wonderful man has been taken from us. He is with his Master now. I have known Mr. Jim my entire life. I'm so sorry I never kept in closer touch with him. He was a very talented artist. He had a saw that he painted a picture on. If I remember, it was an outdoor scene. He did a beautiful job on it. There just aren't enough words in any dictionary to describe what a wonderful, beautiful, caring person he has been. God has reclaimed one of his most faithful servants.

Please except my sincere condolences on the loss of your Father and truly one of God's most faithful and blessed servants. Goodbye, my friend and "Daddy Jim".

Dear Viney's loved ones, Our acquaintance with Viney began in the late 60's when he made us a set of kitchen cupboards. Through the years, he made us two other sets. So we kept in touch. I have three pieces of sheet music he wrote and his record. In the 80's he looked us up, somehow, as we had moved and we had such a wonderful visit with him. As he left he gathered up a large bag of walnuts from our yard. Just about two weeks ago, my husband mentioned him and said "I wonder if Viney is still living?" He was truly a wonderful, inspirational Christian friend. We feel blessed to have known him.
