Bill's kindness and philanthropy leaves a shining legacy in Muskingum County. Attending multiple graduation ceremonies for the Mighty Oaks Foundation brought a realization and appreciation for how he also cared for those he was not directly familiar with that greatly benefited from his kindness. Many years back I was visiting Zanesville with friends and saw the lovely sculpture in front of the downtown library showing a family happily enjoying books and reading. It stuck with me and I was honored years later to meet Lynn and John Straker. The commitment which Bill and Helen Straker made to Zanesville and the surrounding area is a fine example of the kind of local and consistent generosity which creates many gems in our nation. Memories of their efforts will live on long after all of us have departed.
