Beth Clougherty Obituary

The world lost a wonderful soul this week. On Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at the age of 65 years, Beth (Swanson) Clougherty of Cape Coral, Florida, passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was surrounded by family in the comfort of her own home at the time of her passing. Beth was born on November 18, 1959, in Burlington, Massachusetts, to Doris and George. Beth moved to Derry, New Hampshire, in the 1980's to raise her children, Matt and Andy, with ex-husband Thomas. She was a loving, dedicated mother who could be seen cheering on her sons as they played football throughout their childhood. After her divorce, Beth met her soulmate and the love of her life Dennis with whom she spent a quick 26 years. They moved to Cape Coral, Florida, in the summer of 2006 to escape those cold New England winters. They were truly life partners in everything they did, including their passion for real estate among other interests. The one exception was cooking; Beth loved to cook and was one of the best, while Dennis could barely turn on the stove (in fairness it's a difficult stove to use). In 2015, Beth was given the title of Grammy. She wore this title proudly and enjoyed seeing the smiles on her grandchildren's faces during their weekly video calls. Although they frequently ran around the house holding the phone, making anyone on the other line dizzy, and insisted on drawing her pictures on the app over and over, Grammy never tired of this tradition. Beth had a love for cats and rescued them to the point of being given the nickname "cat lady". Speaking of nicknames, each of her cats was bestowed with many nicknames, never being referred to by his/her original name of choice. Dennis may feed them, but they absolutely adored Beth. They say animals have a keen sense of picking out good people and they certainly picked out a good one in Beth. Beth leaves behind her beloved partner, Dennis; children. Matt, his wife Melissa, and Andy; grandchildren; Jack and CeCe; sister, Heidi; brother, Brian; as well as numerous relatives and friends. Beth was predeceased by her parents, Doris and George, and stepmother, Priscilla. Per Beth's wishes, her family has decided not to have any open services. A celebration of life will be arranged in New Hampshire this spring to remember Beth. While there is comfort knowing she is at peace and no longer suffering. Beth is a beautiful soul that will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

What a friend! Beth and Dennis helped us find the perfect house in Cape Coral. We quickly became friends. Beth handled her battle with love and baking. I shared in her love of baking almost weekly which her husband called "Baking with Paula". I will cherish these memories...always. Beth will always be loved and missed greatly.
