Patricia Smith Obituary

Patricia Joan Russell Smith, 89, of The Villages, Florida, formerly of Milford, CT, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2025. Pat was born on September 7, 1936, in Grass Valley, California, to John Russell and Kathryn Russell. She met her loving husband Frederick Gorham Clark Smith III at the age of 10 in Greenwich, CT. They later married in 1963, enjoying nearly 60 years of a loving marriage. Together, they raised their family in Milford, where Pat built a successful career in real estate. In 2005, she and Fred retired to The Villages, where she enjoyed sunshine, golf and many games of bridge and MahJong with dear friends. Pat's life was a joyful journey, spanning from Alaska to Old Greenwich, from Zambia, Africa, to her cherished homes in Milford and The Villages. Known for her humor and hospitality, Pat loved life and lived it fully. Whether she was skiing with her family, traveling abroad, or playing games with her competitive spirit, she brought enthusiasm and optimism wherever she went. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, daughter and friend - and she truly was full of grace until her last breath. Pat is survived by her children Michele, Suzette, and Rick; her grandchildren Saron, Lindsey, and Amanda; her great-grandchildren Marlee, Cameron, Wynn, and Eitan; and her sister Mary Lee Jennings and brother-in-law James Smith. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Fred, her daughter Robin, her siblings Kathryn Sue Kerr and John Russell, and her sister-in-law Muffy Gilroy. A celebration of life will be held in The Villages at a later date.
