Thurman Nathaniel Johnson

Thurman Nathaniel Johnson, age 73, passed away on September 28, 2025. Born on February 18, 1952, in Asheville, North Carolina, Thurman was the beloved son of the late William R. Johnson and Katie Belle Johnson (Allen). He graduated from TC Robertson High School in 1970 and proudly dedicated 27 years to the US Army Reserves. A testament to his diligent work ethic, Thurman spent over 20 years employed at Eaton and retired from Nypro in 2020. In his leisure time, he found joy in fishing and had an enduring passion for landscaping and yard work. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Eddie Johnson. Thurman's legacy continues through his children, Tamara Caple (Maurice) of Greensboro, Thurman Johnson II (Sequenta) of Raleigh, and Chad Johnson (Sierra) of Brevard, NC. He cherished his grandchildren, Arrington, Aria, Zuri, and Ryelah. Thurman is also survived by his devoted siblings, Denoris Johnson of Greensboro, NC; Laura Groleau of Fletcher, NC; Gary Johnson (Sandra) of Asheville, NC; William "Bubba" Johnson (Dorothy) of Fletcher, NC; and his special friend, Ms. Mary Gordon of Brevard. His loving spirit touched the lives of his nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family. A private family service to celebrate Thurman's life will be held at a later date.
