Rosezanna Sturgeon Obituary
Rosezanna Marie Sturgeon, 82, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025, in Casper, Wyoming. Born December 29, 1942, in Lafayette, Indiana, to the late Opal Maxine (Cruey) Kyle and Glenn Mason Kyle, Rosezanna lived a life rooted in kindness, family, and laughter.
After graduating, she attended Business College and earned her associate degree in Business Management-an accomplishment she was very proud of.
She spent most of her life as a homemaker, proudly keeping her children well-fed and well-loved. Her kitchen was her stage, and her specialties-meatloaf, baked steak, pecan pie, and apple cake-were legendary with her grandchildren, who never left her table hungry. She had the rare gift of making both a meal and a memory at the same time.
In the years after her children were grown, Rosezanna enjoyed serving others as a bartender at The Night Owl in Otterbein and The Montmorenci Bar in Montmorenci, where she made many friends and unforgettable memories.
Rosezanna's heart was as big as her laugh. She was the kind of woman who would give the shirt off her back to anyone in need, and her generosity extended well beyond her family. Even in her long-term care home, she continued to surprise staff with thoughtful holiday gifts. She made a forever-friend there, Pat, who brought her immense joy. The two could often be found in the corner giggling or making silly faces across the room-proof that even in later years, mischief and friendship go hand in hand. Rosezanna's love for Pat was so genuine that she gifted her a fur blanket as a keepsake, a warm reminder of their bond.
Animals held a special place in her heart. Since pets weren't allowed at her care home, her family gifted her a stuffed dog that she named "Pill"-a sweet nod to her childhood nickname from her father. She doted on him daily, always quick to smile and say, "I know he's not real," while enjoying the comfort he brought. Tomato soup was another great comfort-so much so that the kitchen staff often had a bowl ready the moment they saw her coming.
Though Rosezanna loved many things, she loved her family most of all. She is survived by her children, Thomas (Annette) Stephenson of Helmetta, NJ, and Melissa (Bradley) Wagner of Lusk, WY; stepchildren Tracy (Kevin) Hafner of Rock Springs, WY, and David (Laurie) Sturgeon of Dubuque, IA; siblings Steven (Sharon) Kyle and Glenn Jr. (Kathy) Kyle, both of New Whiteland, IN; grandchildren Morgan, Devin, and Payton Stephenson; James McClain, Jessica Wagner; Benjamin Wagner; Bailey Keyser; Elijah Wagner; Carrie, Gunnar, and Landon; Kaitlyn Gill; Brodie and Berkley Gill; Aiden and Laney Sturgeon; and great-grandchildren Paisley, Adalyn, Winston, and Rudy. She also leaves behind her grand-dogs Bella, Mia, and Tucker, who were truly the joy of her days. She was preceded in death by her son, James Stephenson, and grandson, Samuel Wagner.
Friends and Family are welcome to join us for a Graveside service to be held at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, 1718 W 350 N, West Lafayette, Indiana, on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
Her family will forever remember her as caring, funny, and delightfully stubborn, a woman who could turn the simplest things-like tomato soup or a shared laugh-into love-filled treasures.
