Daniel Velasco Obituary

Daniel Herbert Velasco aged fifty-eight was born in California on 11/13/1966 to Herbert Velasco and Sabra Rodriguez. He entered into the arms of his Lord and Savior on July 16, 2025 in Ruidoso, New Mexico. Daniel grew up in a full house with 6 sisters and 2 brothers. As a child Daniel pretended to be a preacher. After graduating from high school Daniel served in the Army and became an entrepreneur where he was a man of all trades. He even had the opportunity to create his own BBQ sauce and spices company. He was a fantastic cook and a big fan of Frank Sinatra and the Beach Boys. He went on to start his own family and fathered his first child in 1991, Sarah and a son Daniel II in 1995. Daniel II followed in his father's footsteps and joined the U.S. Military and now serves actively on the U.S.S Henry M. Jackson as a submarine Nav E.T. He went on to marry the love of his life, Margaret. In 2012 Daniel met Margaret and serenaded her on their second date with Frank Sinatra. They married on 04/11/2014 in Phoenix, AZ surrounded by their family and friends. He gained a bonus daughter, Daniela and bonus son, Raymond. In 2025 Daniel retired and looked forward to having more time to do more of his favorite hobbies. He was an avid fisher, prospector, antique shopper and coin collector. He was a friend to everyone and always ready to speak with others. He was easy to talk to and had a contagious smile. He was kind, loyal to all and had a dry sense of humor. He adored his children, bonus children, and grandchild; he was incredibly proud of the people they had and will become. He was a loyal husband, a devoted father, and a doting grandfather. He made everyone feel seen, heard, and deeply loved. He loved telling stories – some true, some exaggerated, all entertaining. His dry sense of humor would sneak up on you, usually followed by a sly grin that let you know he had one more joke ready. Daniel didn't need a stage; he brought warmth and light into every room he entered. Daniel's relationship with Jesus was the most important relationship he had before his family. Daniel loved the Lord with his whole being. He was constantly humbled by God's grace and love and always took the opportunity to share that with others. Daniel was predeceased by his parents Herbert and Sabra and his nephew Cody. Daniel is survived by his loving family wife Margaret, his daughter Sarah (Thai), granddaughter Addilyn, Daniel, Daniela (Eric) and Raymond (Brooke). Peace has been stripped away, and I have forgotten what prosperity is. I cry out, "My splendor is gone! Everything I had hoped for from the LORD is lost!" The thought of my suffering and homelessness is bitter beyond words. I will never forget this awful time, as I grieve over my loss. Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. I say to myself, "The LORD is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!" The LORD is good to those who depend on him, to those who search for him. So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the LORD. Lamentations 3:19-26
