Francis Kazmier Obituary
Dr. Francis J. Kazmier, 91, passed away peacefully at Mayo Hospital Phoenix on August 20, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 31, 1933, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, eldest child to the late Francis and Catherine Kazmier.
Frank was proud of his family and loved them deeply. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Cecilia, and their four daughters, Carmen, Elena, Adrianne and Marcie. Frank and Cecilia have 7 grandchildren that will forever cherish memories of their grandfather: Gabi 25, Jessica 24, Hanna 23, James 21, Eduardo 19, Megan 18, and Isabella 13. He is also survived by his sister,
Maryann.
Frank devoted his life to medicine, earning the respect of colleagues and the gratitude of the many patients he cared for throughout his career. He was known for his professionalism, integrity, and compassion, qualities that defined both his career and character. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Saint Joseph's College in Philadelphia. Frank attended medical school at Jefferson Medical College, Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society, a prestigious honor highlighting Frank's excellence in academic standing, professionalism, leadership and commitment to community. He completed his fellowship training at Mayo Graduate School of Medicine and was Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases.
Frank had a distinguished career in medicine. He was a Professor of Medicine at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Emeritus Consultant for the Division of Cardiovascular Diseases, Department of Internal Medicine, Mayo Clinic, Scottsdale, Arizona. He held numerous roles throughout his career, including Chairman, Division of Cardiovascular Diseases at Mayo Clinic Scottsdale; Section Head Vascular Medicine at Ochsner Clinic, New Orleans; Medical Director Vascular Laboratory, Ochsner Clinic, New Orleans; and Medical Director Non-Invasive Laboratory, Arizona Heart Institute, Phoenix. Frank had the opportunity to share his talent across the United States but always called the Mayo Clinic his home. He returned to Mayo Clinic Scottsdale to finish his distinguished career. He loved patient care and serving his community, but teaching medical students, residents and fellows was a passion he pursued well beyond retirement. Amongst the numerous honors and awards he received throughout his career, Frank was most proud of those he received teaching the young medical talent around him.
Frank leaves behind a legacy of service, dedication, and love for his family and community. He will be remembered as a man of quiet strength and steady kindness, whose life touched many. His influence endures in the lives of those he cared for and in the family he cherished.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, September, 8th at Saint Bernadette Catholic Church at 10:30 am.
