Louis Moon Obituary

Louis Richard Moon June 20, 1937 - August 24, 2025 Born in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania, Louis began a life marked by dedication, craftsmanship, and a deep love for family and faith. His professional journey took flight in the late 1950s when he joined Capitol Airlines. Following the airline's merger with United Airlines in 1961, Louis transferred with the company from Ohio to Reno, Nevada in 1963 where he and his first wife raised their two daughters. His career continued to flourish as he embraced new opportunities; in 1981 he relocated to Phoenix, Arizona-a move he welcomed for its warm desert climate over the chill of mountain winters. He worked diligently as a load planner and field crew member until his retirement in 1999. Even after retiring from United Airlines, Louis remained active and industrious. He ran his own car repair business and lent his skills as a handyman for a local flower shop. His hands were rarely idle-he found joy and purpose in fixing things and staying engaged with projects both big and small, often in service to family and friends. Louis had a passion for competition roller skating, which led him to meet Margie when they became skating partners in Reno. Their shared love of skating blossomed into a deeper bond that culminated in their marriage on the beach in Hawaii. Together they built their home in Scottsdale, Arizona, where they spent their married life of 43 years creating memories filled with love and laughter. In retirement, Louis and Margie traveled extensively across the country. One of their cherished traditions was making annual trips to Florida to attend NASCAR races-a journey that also allowed them to visit family and friends along the way. Louis was a devout Catholic and an active member of Blessed Sacrament Church. His faith was central to his life, guiding his values and actions. He was also proud to be a member of the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his blended family: his daughters Cynthia and Carmen and granddaughter Kathleen; his wife, Margie Moon and her children Gary and Elizibeth; their six children and Elizibeth's four grandchildren, who all fondly called him Grandpa; as well as many friends who were touched by his warmth and generosity. A man who believed in hard work and staying busy, Louis leaves behind a legacy of dedication-to his family, his craft, his faith, and those fortunate enough to know him. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him. A Funeral Mass will be held on September 9, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Blessed Sacrament Church 11300 N 64th Street. A reception at the church social hall will immediately follow.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. I know it´s been years. But I still remember the times I spent in Erie with my Mother. She loved you dearly and always thought the world of you. You were always smiling and happy. My prayers are with your family.
