So sorry to hear of Alans passing. He was a good friend for many years. I first knew him when I joined the Gay Mens Choir in the 80's. Then it was named the Brash Ensemble. He kept the choir going for many years. My condolences to Jon Hul

I was one of the original members of the New Mexico Gay Men's Chorus that Alan founded in about 1982 and accompanied for many years. He was always a very talented, kind and generous man. My condolences to Jon Hull and to all those who loved him.

Thank you for posting this Marty, I wouldnt have known otherwise. Mr Stringer was responsible for not only helping me pass English class, but inspiring my creativity and showing me the way real writers in any shape or form could write from their own experiences and also create new ones. I have used these skills in my professional life and I have already written and published two childrens books...a picture book and a novel along with its own coloring book. Making children smile and also interested in learning has been my goal now for a very long time. I came back from South America to meet with Mr. Stringer many years ago after he was gracious enough to give me a writing critique on my novel via email. I took him out to lunch at one of those healthy food cafes in Albuquerque and was able once again to hear his wisdom. I knew when I sent the copy of my book to him that I had for some reason left out a period, and in true "Springer-style", he pointed that out to me in his next email. I will be forever grateful to him for passing English class and getting my first few poems published nationally due to his efforts without my knowledge. I will always remember him. He was my writing mentor and I have so many fond memories of being in his class with my other classmates. My condolences to his husband and extended family. He will be missed.

I sang in the choir at First UU Church with Alan as director for many years. I adored him. He was so talented, soft spoken and gentle. A very fun choir director. I will miss him greatly.

Alan kept the First Unitarian choir going for many many years. He composed new songs for us to perform, and was willing to help anyone improve their singing. He was a kind and modest soul.
