Laney, Bill Eugene



Dr. Bill Eugene Laney a long time resident of Albuquerque, passed away Sunday February 5, 2017 at the age of 81 of congestive heart failure. Dr. Laney was born in Joplin, Missouri, and would later settle with his family in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he attended Central High School. Dr. Laney would attend University of Tulsa for his Undergraduate degree and would then complete his Graduate studies at New Mexico State University and would further his education with completion of the Doctoral program in Physics at the University of California, Berkeley. He was employed by various defense related firms in the area and has been credited with the development of stealth technologies that helped bring about the collapse of the Soviet Union. He was an avid golf and skier and enjoyed living in the Southwest.

Dr. Laney married Vivian Sue Cravens of Tulsa & is survived by their six children, Nanci J Bucy, Phillip M. Laney, Andrea D. Laney, Susan L. Abrums , David R. Laney, Patrick A. Laney & by 11 grandchildren & 11 great-grandchildren.

Dr. Laney served with the US Army with distinction in the post Korean War era and was stationed in Germany and will be buried with military honors in ceremony on February 17, 2017 at 10:30 am at the National Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Santa Fe. The family is requesting that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Folds Of Honor Foundation.
