Bobbie McMullin Obituary

Bobbie Joe McMullin, Sr.

It is with deep sorrow and overflowing love that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Bobbie Joe McMullin, Sr. Known affectionately as Joe to his friends, he was a man of unwavering strength, quiet charisma, and deep compassion. His presence brought warmth and steadiness to those around him, and his legacy of love, loyalty, and character will remain in our hearts forever.

Joe was born in Ravenden Spring, Arkansas, in 1936 to James Rufus McMullin and Bessie Gertrude Holbrock. He was one of eight children: Pete, Bill, Junior, Tommy, Frances Lee, Nellie, and Katherine.

Joe joined the United States Air Force in Rockford, Illinois, in 1954, proudly answering the call to serve his country. Over the course of 27 years, he dedicated his life to military service as an Air Operations Manager, playing a critical role in coordinating and supporting air missions both domestically and abroad. His service took him across the United States and to various overseas assignments, where his leadership, precision, and commitment were widely respected.

Joe served with honor throughout the Vietnam War, demonstrating unwavering courage and devotion in a time of national conflict. His exemplary service earned him multiple commendations and decorations, a reflection of his patriotism, discipline, and integrity. Joe retired from the Air Force with the distinguished rank of Chief Master Sergeant in 1982, one of the highest enlisted ranks attainable, leaving behind a legacy of honor, sacrifice, and dedication to his country.

In 1955, while stationed in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Joe met Ruth Davis, who was also serving in the United States Air Force. Ruth was born in North Carolina and was stationed in Albuquerque when they met. They married in 1957 by the Justice of the Peace and went on to raise four children: Carolyn, Bobbie Jr., Richard, and Steven. Joe and Ruth were happily married for 55 years. Ruth passed away in 2012 after a 12-year battle with Alzheimer's.

After retiring from the military, Joe settled with his family in Albuquerque, where he bought a home, sent his children to school, and built a solid foundation for the next chapter of their lives. He opened BJ McMullin Realty, where he worked as a licensed real estate broker for 36 years. His work ethic, reliability, and personable nature made him a respected figure in the local business community and a trusted advisor to many families seeking homes of their own. Joe was a devoted family man who found his greatest joy in being surrounded by loved ones. He especially cherished time spent with his six grandsons and five great-grandchildren, proudly attending their milestones, sharing stories, and creating memories that will be treasured for generations. Whether it was a quiet moment at home or a lively family gathering, Joe's presence brought warmth, humor, and a steady sense of support.

Outside of family life, Joe was an avid golfer who relished time on the course, both for the sport and the camaraderie it offered. He also enjoyed visiting the casino where his favorite game was Craps. He loved the energy of the game and the social atmosphere it provided. Joe's passions reflected his personality, spirited, outgoing, and full of life.

Joe is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Carolyn McMullin, and her husband, John Pesko; and their son, Bryan Tyler Pesko. He is also remembered by his eldest son, Bobbie McMullin Jr., and Bobbie Jr.'s sons: Bobbie McMullin III and the late Max Gauna McMullin, who passed away in 2017, from his former wife, Margaret Elisabeth Gauna McMullin.

Also surviving him is his grandson, Samuel Lucas Casaus, a proud and active member of the United States Navy and the son of Bobbie Jr. and the late Christine Casaus, who passed away in 2012.

His son, Richard Allen McMullin, and Richard's wife, Kellee, also survive him. Married for many years, Richard and Kellee share a strong and devoted partnership. Richard shared a close bond with his father, built on mutual respect, love, and years of meaningful connection. He is further survived by his youngest son, Steven and his wife Veronica, his grandchildren Jeff and wife Adrienne, Jacob and wife Marlena, great-grandchildren Ashtyn, Brody, Blake, Parker, and Sawyer. Veronica's daughters Angel and Angelina.

Joe passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at 11:47 PM at Sandia Ridge Nursing Home, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family's memories.
