Carlotta Denslow Obituary

Carlotta Gayle Denslow

In Loving Memory of Carlotta Gayle Denslow

May 31, 1942 - October 18, 2024

Gayle Denslow lived a life full of joy, laughter, and compassion. Her warm smile and infectious spirit touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. A beloved wife, mother, daughter, Mimi, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully on October 18, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and service. Gayle was a lifelong advocate for others, passionately involved in organizations that were close to her heart.

Gayle grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she graduated from Highland High School. At 21, she married the love of her life, John Denslow. Together, they raised two children and owned and operated the local pharmacy (Denslow Pharmacy) while she ran the post office Nob Hill substation located in their pharmacy. Gayle was actively involved in Jobs Daughters, PEO, and Eastern Star. She was a dedicated member of Central United Methodist Church for 65 years, where she found joy in serving as the church's wedding coordinator, helping couples make their wedding day one of the happiest days of their lives.

A devoted member of Daughters of the Nile, Gayle spent many years contributing to its charitable work, touching countless lives through her selfless efforts. She was also a proud and active member of the Assistance League, where her leadership and compassion made a lasting impact on thousands of children in the Albuquerque Public School system. Her love for her Chi Omega sisters was another important part of her life, where she forged lasting friendships and continued to support their shared values.

Beyond her professional and community work, Gayle found her greatest pride in her family, whom she loved deeply. She was a devoted wife to John, a loving mother to Kathy and Tom, and an adored Mimi to her grandchildren: Katie, Robert, Samuel, and Sarah. Her love, guidance, warmth, and laughter will be remembered by all who knew her.

Whether organizing a wedding, delivering shoes to schools within Albuquerque, or hosting a family gathering, Gayle's attention to detail and sense of humor always brought joy to those around her.

Gayle was preceded in death by her parents, Carl Paxton "CP" Morris and Kathryn Morris (Cross), and her brother, James "Corky" Morris (Sally).

Gayle is survived by her husband, John Denslow; her children, Kathy Gough (Steve) and Tom Denslow (Kimberly); her grandchildren, Katie Gough, Robert Gough (Raegan Shackelford), Samuel Denslow, and Sarah Denslow; as well as nephews, Jim and Joe Morris; and niece, Jana Kimmel.

As Gayle often said, "Man, did we have a ton of fun!" a simple yet powerful reflection of the love and laughter she spread throughout her life.

She will be deeply missed.

Services were held Saturday, October 26th, 2024, 10:00 a.m., at Central United Methodist Church, 201 University Blvd. NE.
