Maria Celina Ramirez passed away on January 31st, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Celina was born on December 31st, 1936, in San Juan, New Mexico, to Eraquio and Teresita Chavez, the oldest of 6 siblings. She met her husband, John Ramirez, and raised their three children in Albuquerque's South Valley, New Mexico.

Celina and John established Duke Barber Shop and Empress Beauty Salon in the early 60's. The tradition is still carried on by her son, Rick; her daughter, Denise; and her grandson, Mario. She went on to run Concrete Wave Skate Shop with her daughter, Jerri and grandson, Ray.

Celina founded Concrete Wave Skate Shop in 1988 and served the skateboard community for over three decades. She inspired her grandson, Ray to establish Microwave Skate Shop in 2006 which continues to run in downtown Albuquerque.

She enjoyed score keeping for her husband's softball teams; a very big part of their lives for many years. She was a math wiz. She loved a beer, a lottery scratcher in the sun, and her hummingbird feeders full of hummingbirds.

Celina loved her family and is preceded in death by her father, Eraquio; mother, Teresita; husband, John; brothers, Cloyd and Leroy; brother-in-law, Jerry; her nephew, Jeff; and daughter-in-law, Susie.

She is survived by her five siblings and their spouses, Joe and Priscilla, James and Theresa, Raymond and Shirley, Della, Gene and Elvira; her three children and their spouses, Rick and Angelica, Jerri and Ray, Denise and Stacy; her 3 grandchildren and their spouses, Ray and Julia, Mario and Julianna, Jazmin and Ricky; her Godchild, Michelle; and her great-grandchildren, Josiah, Elias, Natalia, and Urijah.

Services will be held at St. Edwin's church (2105 Barcelona Rd SW), on Monday, February 16th, 2026, with visitation starting at 9:00 a.m., Rosary starting at 9:30 a.m., and Mass following at 10 a.m. Celina's final resting place will be with her husband at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on a later date.
