David Brian Shoup



David Brian

Shoup, of

Albuquerque and

formerly of

Silver City, died Nov. 19 of cancer. He was 62.

Shoup was born in Pine Bluff,

Ark., but the

family soon

moved to Silver

City, where

Shoup was raised. He graduated from Silver High School in 1977. Shoup worked in construction and ran his own bricklaying business in Texas and New Mexico. He even built his own cabin in rural Socorro County. In the early 1990s, Shoup began studying at the University Of New Mexico in Albuquerque, and in 1999, graduated from the UNM School of Pharmacy. Shoup then worked across the state in several pharmacies, including in Roswell, Deming, Farmington and Albuquerque. Shoup enjoyed working with his

customers to

understand their medicines and

treatments. Shoup was also a loyal son, a fiercely loyal friend and a good uncle to his niece and nephew.

Shoup was

preceded in death

by his mother,

LaVera Shoup, of Silver City. He is survived by his father, Whitney Shoup, of Silver City; brother Steve Shoup, of Albuquerque; and sister, Suzanne Alberts and her husband, Bruce

Alberts, of Titusville, Fla; and niece, Sophia Alberts, and nephew, Gabriel

Alberts, both of Titusville.

Memorial contributes may be made to the Whitney and LaVera Shoup Health Sciences Scholarship at Western New Mexico University Foundation. Memorial events plans are pending.
