Douglas Schuler Obituary
Douglas Owen Schuler, 83, went home to be with the Lord on July 13, 2025. Doug was born on February 2, 1942, in Delta, Colorado. He worked for 36 years at Sandia Laboratories as a mechanical engineer and traveled the world in retirement.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ladena Schuler; son, Jeffrey (Tina) Schuler; daughter, Kathleen (Dave) Bryson; and 5 grandchildren: Michaela, Garrett (Lauren), Ryan, and Paige. He will be remembered for his intellect, his sense of humor, and his dedication to his family.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Eastern Hills Baptist Church. Visitation with the family will be from 9:30-11:00am, with the service at 11:00am. Please visit our online guestbook for Doug at

We had the privilege and honor to know Doug. We met about 14 years ago and became Friends immediately. We joined the Manzanitas RV group where he and Dee were already members. Doug was a quiet man with a keen sense of humor and a dedication to Friends. He was always willing to listen and if needed offer advise. A Friend? No more like a brother. He was a brother, Family and his Friendship will always be remembered and always in that special place in our hearts. We will miss him but our memories and pictures of him at our RV outings will be looked at with heartfelt thanks for his sharing so much with all of us. Rest in peace my Friend and fly high or just ride your motorcycle around Heaven as you did on Earth.

We were all young, charging down to UNM daily from Sandia Labs 1965-67, and optimistically looking forward to our future lives. For 30 years I knew Doug as a work colleague and friend having moved and lost contact with he and Ladena more than 25 years ago. My memories of him are of his sincerity, thoughtfulness, and concern for his family.
