Elizabeth Karner



Elizabeth "Betsy" Karner, born July 31, 1937 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully, Thursday, June 1, 2023. She attended Marion Mercy High School in Philadelphia. Growing up, she spent many happy summers at the Jersey Shore. She followed the Philadelphia sports teams, especially the Seventy-Sixers. Betsy is survived by her husband of 37 years, son, stepsons, grandsons, granddaughter, great-grandson, daughter-in-laws and cousins. Last but not least were her many pets that she had over the years whom she considered family members. Even the stray cats that would visit were important to her. She considered all of them God's creatures and must be taken care of.

A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, 10:30 a.m., St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Rd SE, Rio Rancho, NM. A Rosary will be said at 10:00 a.m. There will be a reception in the church hall following the Mass.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity. She will be interred at the National Veteran's Cemetery in Santa Fe.

Betsy will be always be remembered for her smile and humor by her family and friends. She was loved and will be greatly missed.

Betsy was a great friend and always kept us entertained with her wit and humor. We had many great times together with her and Dan over the years on cruises, at the vacation home in Colorado, and frequent dinners out. She will be greatly missed!

Betsy was my first cousin. Her father Uncle Ray Groff was my Dad´s brother (Andrew Milton Groff Sr.) Betsy was about 15 years older than me. I remember Betsy was a happy and friendly person. My sincere sympathy goes out to Dan and her entire family. Drew (Andrew Milton Groff Jr.)
