Gretchen Carr Obituary

Gretchen A. Carr

Gretchen A. Carr passed away at home on July 29, 2024, after a long battle with cancer. Gretchen was born on June 12, 1947, in Denver, Colorado to Bonnie Mae Sandlin and Robert Carr. She was the second of two daughters, Kit being her older sister.

Gretchen grew up in Denver and moved to Albuquerque in the 1970s. She quickly became part of the women's community and developed a large circle of friends. Gretchen was fiercely independent and lived the way she wanted. She fought her disease for the past two years with amazing tenacity and insisted on staying in her home until the end.

Gretchen was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She leaves behind her family, including sister, Kit Lynch (Mike); niece, Elyse Miller; nephew, Matt Miller; and her great niece and nephew, Ava and Booker.

She also leaves behind special friends, Jackie Fishman, Darleen Cabeza de Vaca, Evie Heimbach, Barbara Kadin, Susan Rankin, and Carol Stromberg; as well as her neighbors, Dixie Colvin and Deanna Dyke, who were so kind and generous with their time helping Gretchen.

Gretchen was cremated and no service will be held per her wishes. She is dearly missed and will never be forgotten. May her memory be a blessing.
