Devoted, loving mother, grandmother, and great-great-grandmother Helen Gurule, age 84, of Albuquerque, NM, passed into God's hands from natural causes on December 27, 2015. Helen was a tenderhearted protector and a wonderful example of faith and resilience! Helen Gurule (Maria Elena Gallegos) was born February 19, 1931 in Albuquerque New Mexico to Teresita Padilla Gallegos and Henry P. Gallegos. She grew up and made her home in the historic neighborhood of Barelas.

Helen is survived by her children, Teresa Hardern and her son David, daughter Mandy, and great-granddaughter Angelica; Sarah Gurule; Emily Miera and husband Bill, their daughters Deanna, Victoria, and Angel and great-grandson Silas, son Art and his wife Kira and great-grandchildren Isaiah, Sara, Emilie, Olivia, and Anah; Rudy Gurule and his daughters Gabriella and Tawnya and husband Felipe and great-grandchildren Eric, Emma and step-daughter Savannah, John and step-son Jeremy, Jose and his wife Deann and step-daughter Cheyanne; as well as numerous loved nieces and nephews. She is survived by her sister Josie Arreliano. Helen was preceded in death by grandson "little Rudy" Gurule and her eight siblings; Junior, Trini, Bonifacio, Lee, Bennie, Polo, Mela and Carmen.

Helen shared her life with the many elderly women that she took care of as a Senior Companion as well as her dear friends Agnes Miera-Chavez, Bertha Salazar, and Elva Delgado who preceded her in death.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Mary Shortell, the staff at Mountain View Manor and PACE for taking loving care of her during her final years. We would also like to thank her daughter Emily Miera for her long-term love and incredible dedication to Helen's care and well being throughout the years.

All services will be held at St. Jude Thaddeus Church, 5712 Paradise Blvd NW, Albuquerque, NM 87114. A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at 6:30PM. A Viewing will be held at 9:00AM Thursday, December 31, 2015 with a Memorial Service directly following at 9:30 AM. A Christian Burial will be held at 11:00AM at Sunset Memorial Park 924 Menaul Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87107.
