James Myers Obituary

James William Myers

The family of James William Myers sadly announce Jim's death on April 28, 2024 from a brain injury sustained from a fall while walking the family dog, Dutchess. Jim was born on March 3, 1945 in San Francisco and spent his earliest years in Marion, Ohio before moving with his family to New Mexico in 1950. Jim was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He leaves Linda, his life partner of 53 years, son Joshua and his wife Kendall Myers and grandsons Pierce and Clark, son Timothy and his wife Jennifer Myers and granddaughters, Skylar and Fiona, and daughter Sarah and her husband Jason Urias and granddaughters, Emma and Ona. He will also be missed by brother Robert and sisters Carole and her husband Gregg Sherwood and Linda and her husband David Casey and sisters-in-law Eunice Hoeft and Barbara Manske and brother-in-law Philip and his wife Suzanne Amt as well as by many nieces, nephews, friends and family.

Jim was a caring and compassionate public servant with the State of New Mexico's Human Services Department for over 30 years. He did not judge others and easily walked in their shoes while providing them his help and support. He was witty and fun and an unabashed punster eliciting laughter and groans from all. He was kind and always generous and loved being with family and friends.

There was always music in Jim's life even as he took his last breath with his children and Linda holding him close. He was raised with big band and show tunes, but he first heard rock and roll while serving in the U.S. Army in Munich Germany. He loved music from every decade and genre including Josh's heavy metal, Tim's rap and Sarah's alternative. He marveled at the complexity of classical music but equally loved Doc Watson, Joni Mitchell and the Beach Boys. We will always think of him and hold him in our hearts as we listen to the music of his life. Rest in peace dear Jim.

We will be celebrating Jim's life as he wanted us to do, with family, friends, food, drink and music on June 8th, 2024. Please call 505-883-8593 for details.

Jim advised us and installed our first computer. When our sons were little, they called him "Computer Man". Many fond memories of working together.
