Jeffrey (Jeff) Randall Gross

Jeffrey (Jeff) Randall Gross, 62. Recently of Albuquerque, Jeff died peacefully on Monday, April 14, 2025 in Artesia, NM, of vascular dementia. Jeff was born in Albuquerque, June 15, 1962, the youngest child of the late Julian E. Gross and Ednarae Gross (nee Bligh). Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, and his older brother Stephen.

Jeff attended Mark Twain Elementary, Hayes Junior High, and Highland High School, as well as Albuquerque TVI. Jeff dropped out of high school as a rebellious free-spirit choosing his own path, later attaining his GED. As a teen, he ran away from home and joined the circus, returning months later knowing it was not for him. Next, he joined the US Army, but that also was not a good fit for him. Ultimately, he found his niche as a skilled electronics technician in the aerospace industry. From 2006 to 2021, he lived in Seattle, home of the Seahawks, his favorite football team. Like a true New Mexican, Jeff returned to Albuquerque annually in fall to get his 3 bags of roasted green chilies and fly home with them to Seattle.

A born-again Christian, Jeff was active in his church both in Albuquerque and in Seattle.

He was a collector/trader of comic books and action figures, and a lover of tattoos. He was known for his winning smile. Jeff loved old-school heavy metal music and in the early 1990s started an internet radio station featuring 24/7 heavy metal music. Jeff also loved gardening, cooking, and his chihuahua, Pinky.

Jeff was a special brother. He is survived by his brother, Allan of Albuquerque and sister, Janis of Tucson, western cousins Michelle Miller, Tujunga and Dallas Bligh, Grand Junction. Other survivors include an aunt and cousins in MA, NH, ME, and NJ.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life service will be held at 10 am Saturday, June 14, 2025 at New Life City, 5454 Venice Ave NE, Suite E, in the multipurpose room.
