June Disert Obituary

June Disert

Patricia Leigh Disert, with great sadness of heart, announces that her mother, June Disert, a 35-year resident of Los Ranchos, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2022 at the age of 94. In her early years, she was a grade school teacher in Long Island, NY, and ran the Learning Center at Horace Greeley High School in Chappaqua, NY in the 1970s and 1980s.

Her favorite place was an old family farm in Callicoon, NY. From the vantage point of the farmhouse porch, she could look west up the Delaware River Valley to see approaching storms and the beautiful sunsets. She took great pride in the farm's extensive vegetable and flower gardens and apple orchard producing cider from an 1850's press.

She and her husband, Joseph Disert, retired to New Mexico to be with their daughter and re-created a small version of the Callicoon farm in Los Ranchos, with vegetable and flower gardens, a fruit orchard and hay pasture. She will be best remembered as an awesome gardener, cook, and hostess.

Her husband, Joseph Frank Disert, passed about 2 ½ years ago but she remained a cheerful person to the end. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Leigh Disert and husband, Kim Murphy of Albuquerque; sister, Barbara Moore of South Salem, NY; niece, Sue Moore Rodgers and husband, Jim Rodgers of Pittsburg, PA; nephew, Thomas Moore and wife, Melissa of Amesbury, MA; and other family including niece; Lynda O'Donnell and husband; Kevin of Venice, FL.
