I knew Mark at the Y. He was part of a group that had many a coffee together over the past year or so. He loved to tease and insult and be a curmudgeon, but then his kind sweet nature underneath it all would show through. Last summer he generously shared his produce and clearly loved his garden.
My husband and I met you, Mark's wife, at the fish fry at St. John's. We thoroughly enjoyed talking to you and seeing a different, gentle side of Mark when he was with you! We can only imagine the grief now, and you have our deepest sympathy. He was quite a guy.
Mark never told us at the Y that he was ill, so his death came as a total shock. Actually, we are all still reeling and sharing our memories of him at our coffee time. We have all signed a card that the Y will send to his family.
I didn't know Mark for long, but saw him often during the time I did, and the Y is just not the same without him.
