Marlene Goebel Obituary

Marlene Goebel

Marlene Goebel, 83, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away on March 21, 2021 at Lovelace Hospital. Marlene was born on January 24, 1938, to George and Ardith deKalands in Flint, Michigan. After graduating from high school, she married the love of her life; Bill Goebel and began raising a family. She had 3 sons (Bret, Kirk & Reed) and stayed home to raise her sons. Her husband Bill was a barber in Michigan and had a lot of pain from arthritis. He wanted to move to a place he had hitchhiked through that made an impression on him after he was discharged from the Navy. She said "Yes", so they sold most of their belongings and loaded up a Chevy station wagon, hooked up a small trailer and got on the road heading to Albuquerque New Mexico in 1963.

She is survived by her 3 sons, and 7 Grand Children (Dana, Chris, Adam, Eddie, Laura, Emery and Dianna) as well as a passel of Great Grandchildren. She will be missed.

May the road rise up to meet you.

May the wind be always at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face.

May your glass be ever full.

May the roof over your head be always strong.

And may you be in heaven half an hour before the

devil knows you're dead.

Please accept my deepest condolences for your loss. Marlene had such a good life. She would come up to my desk and tell me funny stories about herself and Bill and life lessons they taught you boys. I moved last May, and thought of her often. She gave me one of her paintings, that I have hanging on my wall. On the back of it she wrote "For new beginnings, use them wisely". She's happy now with Bill, as they start their new journey. Prayers go out to they family.

May loving memories bring you peace, comfort, and strength. Those who pass on, God keeps in his memory because they are precious in his eyes. My sincerest condolences. (Psalms 116:15)
