Maureen Harkins Obituary
Maureen Denise Murphy Harkins died peacefully on April 29, 2016 at Kaseman Presbyterian Hospice after a long and valiant struggle with cancer. She was 56 years old. Maureen was born in Albuquerque in 1959. She graduated from Del Norte High School in 1977. Her greatest joys in life were her daughter Katie, her work as an esthetician, her family, and her many friends old and new. The family is profoundly grateful to her loyal friends, Suzan Walker, Laura Saye, and Tay Roybal Gallegos as well as the nurses and staff of Kaseman Presbyterian Hospice where Maureen received the most compassionate and competent care possible.
She is survived by her daughter, Katie Claire Harkins; her parents, Daniel and Ellen Murphy; her siblings, Michael Murphy, Ann Murphy, Patrick Murphy and wife Jolyne, Martin Murphy, Paul Murphy and wife Helen Myers, Rebecca Ahearn and husband Greg, and Christine Grant. Maureen is also lovingly remembered by her many loving nieces and nephews, Andrew and wife Danika, Aaron, Gavin, Simon, Kathryn and husband Greg, Christian, Isabella, Jack, and Morgan; great-nephews Noah, Reed, and Quinn; and step-sons Beau and Brandon Harkins.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, May 14, 2016, 1:00 p.m., at FRENCH - Lomas with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, an education trust has been established for her daughter, Katie. Memorial donations may be made to Rebecca Ahearn FBO Katie Harkins, 238 Overhill Road, Orinda, CA 94563.

I remember having a lovely time getting to know her when my husband and I were transferred there for a short time from Montana. I really enjoyed her- such a warm and friendly person.

What an amazing, loving tribute to Maureen. Her Memorial Service & Celebration of Life was as filled with wonderful stories, love, and admiration as the room was with her many loving friends and family. Thank you for sharing, sisters, brothers and friends. You touched our hearts, just as she did every day.

What a beautiful soul and person! You will be missed.
