Michael Danoff Obituary
Michael L. Danoff passed away unexpectedly at age 73 at his home on September 15, 2021. Mike was born in 1947 and raised in Albuquerque, NM. After graduating from Highland High School, class of 1965, he attended the University of Arizona on a track scholarship and was active in ROTC. Mike proudly served as an Officer in the United States Army and attended law school at the University of New Mexico. He graduated law school in 1972 and shortly thereafter opened a private civil litigation practice, Michael Danoff and Associates, and served as an esteemed attorney in Albuquerque for over 49 years. Mike was a lifelong fan and supporter of Lobo Athletics and coached youth basketball for over 25 years. Mike had many passions outside of work and was an avid swimmer, golfer and loved spending time with his wife Margo going to concerts, sporting events, cruises, and spending time in his favorite city Las Vegas, NV. He always looked forward to his annual golf trip to Pebble Beach, CA with his sons and spending time with his granddaughter Thea. His most prized possession was time with family and friends.
Mike was proud board member of the Great Southwest Track and Field Association and New Mexico Bowl and served as a previous board member of Congregation Albert and was regional Youth Group Advisor.
He is preceded by his parents, Hyman and Bertha Danoff of Albuquerque. Mike is survived by his wife of 52 years, Margo (Kawin) Danoff and his 3 sons: Troy Danoff and Celeste Peterson of Phoenix, AZ; Brett and Lesli Danoff of Albuquerque; Ryan, Amy and Thea Danoff of Albuquerque; and his brother Robert, Eve Danoff and their family of Paradise Valley, AZ.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to any of the following organizations: Special Olympics New Mexico and/or
Congregation Albert.

Words could never express the loss of Mike Danoff. Mike and the Danoff family have been such a meaningful part of us and our boys lives. I will never forget our last conversation. He never failed to ask and find out everything about Bobby and Chris , how they were doing, etc. Rosanne and I had been at Mike´s office 3 or 4 minutes when Mike and the twins got back from lunch. Said our hellos and one of the boys said he was sorry they were a few minutes late, but Mikes employment valuation took a little longer than expected. LOL. As always, Mike´s follow up comments were the end of that topic!!! Such a wonderful person. The Danoff family will always be very special to us. Our heartfelt sympathies to you all. He will be greatly missed.

Dear Margo, Troy, Brett, Ryan and all the Danoff Family,
I was very saddened to hear of Michael's passing. He was an extremely kind gentleman and my wonderful attorney.
It has indeed been a pleasure meeting and working with him since October of 2018. I will miss him greatly as will our community. He was a very giving person to all that he met.

My heart aches for your loss. I don´t have any childhood memories without Mike and your family in them. From summers at Tanoan to holidays at Temple Albert and basketball games at UMN. What a kind, generous, wonderful man Mike was. His teachings were limitless. It brings a smile....everytime Mike was headed to Court we had to stop him at the front door to make sure his dress shirt was tucked in and his tie was in its proper place before he headed downtown to brawl in the den of the scholars. With heavy heart, he will be truly missed!

Mrs. Danoff, I am sorry to hear of your husband's passing. I am glad to have coordinated a trip to Pebble Beach for your family a couple years ago. I also extend my condolences, to the now men I grew up with, Brett and Ryan, who will always be in my memory as young boys running around on the sandy playground and cracking jokes. It´s impossible to adequately express how saddened and stunned I am at the loss of your husband, dad ... and my friend.
I could go on for a long time about what a wonderful person Mike was and how he helped so many people. But, you already know that. Let me just say that I grieve his loss and always will. Albuquerque is a lesser place without Mike Danoff.
I´m sad that we cannot attend the services tomorrow. We are out of state. But please know that we are praying for him and all of you.

Saddened to hear about Mike. He and I met almost 50 years ago in law school and remained friends. Nancy and I no longer live in New Mexico and will not be able to attend services. Our prayers are with you and Mike will be missed.
