Ralph Chavez Obituary
Ralph Chavez, age 74, passed away peacefully at his home Sunday June 12, 2016.
Ralph was born in Corona, NM to Romelio Chavez and Romanita Aragon, and lived with his wife Dickie in Albuquerque NM.
Ralph was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, and retired as Corporate Secretary Treasurer for the Teamsters Union and President of the Local 492. Ralph tirelessly represented a diverse membership of workers for better wages, stronger benefits and safer working conditions.
Ralph was preceded in death by his brother Henry Chavez; his sister Josie Alirez; and grandson Larry Chavez.
He is survived by his wife Dickie Chavez; sons Norbert Chavez and wife Natalie, Robert Chavez and wife Angela, Larry Chavez and wife Melissa; daughter Tammie Saiz and husband Greg; grandchildren Matthew Chavez and wife Lynae, Jordan Chavez and wife Ashley, Lorenzo Chavez, Tiffany Chavez, Lukas Chavez and fiancee Jillian, Joseph Saiz, Christian Saiz, Eliana Saiz, Taylor Wheeler and fiance Michael, Regina Prairie and husband Phillip; great-grandchildren Isabella, Vincent, PJ, and Matthew and Lynae baby; siblings Alvarita Smith, Rosa Lueras and husband Raymond, Grace Warfield, Marcella Chavez, Luciano Chavez, Della Gonzalez and husband Joe, Danny Chavez, Kathy Palomarez and husband Gabriel; and numerous nephews and nieces.
A rosary will be held Monday June 27, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. followed by funeral services at 10:00 a.m., both at St. Anne's Catholic Church 1400 Arenal Rd SW Albuquerque NM. Final resting place will be at Sunset Memorial in Albuquerque NM.
The Chavez family thanks the physicians and medical staff of New Mexico Heart Institute, Amanda Lucero of Hospice New Mexico, and the staff of Sirona Infusion for their kindness and professionalism.
